Nubian studies needs a platform in which
the old meets the new, in which archaeological, historical, and
philological research into Meroitic, Old Nubian, Coptic, Greek, and
Arabic sources confront current investigations in modern anthropology
and ethnography, Nilo-Saharan linguistics, and critical and theoretical
